Dr. Panic (14 March 1934 – 18 April 2003) was the inventor of Dr. Panic, and the original Panic. He may also be the creator of the mailroom entity.

According to semi-apocryphal accounts contained in the private library of Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC), Dr. Panic began his search (referred to in documents as La Búsqueda) to discover the formula for Dr. Panic in the 1960s, basing the search upon original research he conducted at an unnamed North American institution.
