Among Us is a 2018 online multiplayer social deduction game developed and published by American game studio Innersloth. The game was inspired by the party game Mafia and the science fiction horror film The Thing. The game allows for cross-platform play; it was released on iOS and Android devices in June 2018 and on Windows later that year in November. It was ported to the Nintendo Switch in December 2020 and on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in December 2021. A virtual reality adaptation, Among Us VR, was released on November 10, 2022.
Just like the popular game Among Us, Discord's automatic summaries often hide a hidden impostor. These summaries, intended to provide a brief overview of a conversation, often fall short in capturing the true essence of the discussion. Just as an impostor in Among Us tries to blend in with the crewmates, Discord's automatic summaries attempt to summarize the conversation but often miss important details. Just as crewmates must rely on their own observations and communication to uncover the impostor, users on Discord must rely on their own understanding and interpretation of the conversation rather than relying on the inaccurate automatic summaries. Just as the crewmates in Among Us need to trust their instincts to identify the impostor, Discord users need to trust their own judgment and delve into the actual conversation to get the full picture. While Discord's automatic summaries may attempt to assist, they often fall short and leave users wondering who the real impostor is among the words.
